The Wind Today......

is unreal.  It is pretty high, winds gusting at over 100km an hour.  I hate when the wind is this high.  The house creaks and makes strange noises.  Pretty hard to sleep it is that noisy.  I always think the siding or the roof is going to go flying.  My family think I am crazy but I just can't help to think negative.  So many bad things can happen when the wind is this high.

So no nap for me today.  I am so tired. I guess I can get a bunch of things done online while I am waiting for the house to come down around my ears, lol. Come on lunch time, that is when they are suppose to die down.  Not even my music can drown out the sound.

Of course today had to be garbage day.  Thankfully the city has made it mandatory to put all garbage bags in a bucket that they supplied.  So no worries about it blowing away.  Granted the poor bucket was doing its best to stay up right especially after it was emptied.  Managed to get it down around the side of the house before it tipped over, not sure I would of been about to right it up if it had falling over.  Seen some recycling bags being blowed down the street.

This it my day so far.....

My New Bookcase......

I was finally able to find the time to put my new bookcase together.  My old one didn't match my new furniture, plus the bottom half was some what broke.  I think the only reason it was staying together was the shear magnitude of books I had in it and that it was in a corner out of the way.

I new I had alot of books but didn't really realize how much till I was taking them out of the old one to put in the new one.  As I layed them out on my bed, I quickly ran out of room.  I have  a double bed, lol.  It took me awhile but I got all my books back on the shelves and they are actually more organized this time.  I done them by author.  Plus I kept the top part of the my old bookcase, which I put in my living room so I could put my anthologizes, one off books and some other miscellaneous books.

The sad part of all this it made me realize I have more books that need to be read then I have read, sigh.

Intensive Core French.....

Had a meeting tonight at my daughters school.  She wants to do Intensive core French in Grade 6.  I wasn't sure how it worked since my son showed no interest in doing it when he was in Grade 6.  Just goes to show kids are all different.  There was like 6 parents there, not sure if that was a good thing or not.  But I figured alot of  parents had probably been through it for a previous child so they knew all about it.  Apparently they have like over 40 kids interested in the program for next year.

From what I took away from the meeting my daughter will love it.  Lots of learning but done in a very fun way.  Lots of interaction with other students and hands on learning as well.  Sounds like they make it pretty fun.

My only concern that it is done from September to the end of January then in February they have to do catch up in some subjects that they don't do during that time.  Subjects like Health, Religion, Social Studies and a couple more.  But as it was explained they do a project and it overlaps in 2 or more subjects so that is how they get the marks.

Maybe if she likes it she will do French immersion in Grade 7 and beyond.  Thankfully us parents don't need to know french in order for them to do it.  Any homework will be minimal and it sounds it will be the art portion that will be seen coming home it they don't get it done in class.  By the end of the time they will be able to read, write, speak and understand French at a Grade 9 level.  Very Interesting.

Wish me luck next year.
